The Mission of Portland’s Bureau of Development Services is to promote safety, livability, and economic vitality through efficient and collaborative application of building and development codes.

 

THE POSITION:

The City of Portland's Bureau of Development Services is seeking a Site Development Inspector I. Examples of the work this position performs are as follows:

  • Perform erosion control and tree inspections on commercial and residential building sites.

·         Conduct pre-construction meetings with developers, contractors, consultants, engineers, property owners and other Bureaus and agencies to establish ground rules and explain erosion control and site development requirements.

·         Inspect complex erosion control, Stormwater management, landscaping, environmental mitigation, and tree preservation to verify compliance with approved plans.

·         Organize and track the status of site development permits.

·         Review soil engineering reports, maintain files and inspection records.

·         Evaluate the effectiveness of site erosion and sediment control best management practices in response to storm events, utilizing professional judgment and expertise to provide technical advice and information to minimize environmental impacts.

 

The Site Development Inspector I will meet the Bureau's expectations of providing excellent customer service in an equitable manner to meet the needs of the City of Portland's diverse community.
